Zak Waters: TNT (Tesla55 Remix) + Jayme Dee + Bar Lubitsch November 9th Info!

Posted: 25 Oct 2011 11:13 AM PDT

From mirrored propaganda art, vintage posters, and a grand chandelier seemingly lifted from the czar's private parlor, Bar Lubitsch exudes the nonchalant charm of turn-of-the-century Russia. Settle into an oversized booth and order from the Bolshevik propaganda pamphlet-come-bar menu that includes obvious classics like the Moscow Mule and the Molotov Cocktails along with inventive originals. Featuring an extensive collection of over 200 varieties of vodka from the homeland and around the world, Bar Lubitsch has enough spirit to keep babushka happy.

Wednesday nights in November at Bar Lubitsch won't know what hit them. To kickoff our showcase series on November 2nd, we have RCA recording genius Alex Boyd who will also be accompanied by celebrity choreographer Dee Caspary for part of his show. Also on the bill is the excellent Denny White who will no doubt add to the sharp-dressed crooning sensations and classic Hollywood style. More information here.

And if that's not enough, we have Zak Waters and Jayme Dee for round two on November 9th shown above. If you’re in the LA area for the first two Wednesdays in November, this is the place to be! To get everyone in the mood, we just scored this Tesla55 remix of Zak’s TNT. Tesla55 is a duo since 2010 from the Netherlands who make electro influenced by 80′s funk and disco. Their sound is chock-full of funky synths, electric guitars,bass-lines and the occasional talk-box vocoder.

TalkFine: Somebody’s Talking

Posted: 25 Oct 2011 11:05 AM PDT

We introduced you to TalkFine back in March with their single, "The Moment", a hallmark card in the form of pop music. Well, the duo is back and set to release their new single “Grey Blue” and we got hold of the b-side that’s torturing us with anticipation.

“Somebody’s Talking” marches in with the power of a hundred parades, spilling over streets in color, held in honor of celebrating the quest. A song with endless lefts and rights but stomping through the test of time, proven by every corner passed and the side by side reflection in every window. This song, artist, adventure, all rain or shine.

Karmin: Crash Your Party

Posted: 25 Oct 2011 06:07 AM PDT

So Karmin is the incredible duo that rose to EXTREMELY well deserved YouTube viral super stardom for their insane cover of the Busta Rhymes and Chris Brown track ‘Look At Me Now‘. Well covers that show off their insane flow and rapping skills are the thing of the past, they are here to give us some original material. ‘Crash Your Party’ is their first single and it is a fun, high energy, throw back track. Full of the slick flow and bravado that made Karmin stand out in their covers, laid out over chill, sunny, head bounce inducing beats. Any Jessie J or Rihanna fans out there, this track will definitely be for you, and perfect to fight off the impending winter blues.

Ed Sheeran: Last Ones Standing (Example Cover)

Posted: 25 Oct 2011 04:48 AM PDT

Ed Sheeran has taken the UK by storm, and rightfully so, since this cover was first created just over a year ago, it is still just as beautiful as the first time I heard it. The original is a song with lyrics that were already poignant and subtle in the memories it can universally evoke about best friends and the times you share with them. Ed’s reinvisioning completely changes the tone of the song, from a boisterous and fun homage to causing trouble with your best friend to a personal and touching look back at memories and someone held very dear. All in all a beautiful cover of a fantastic song.

MP3: Last Ones Standing (Example Cover) by Ed Sheeran

“This ain’t child’s play like pass the parcel or
Build a castle, jus a couple of rascals who
Go harder, live faster
Fight til the end like Jason's Argonauts”

For the best friend I could have ever had, I love you and miss your laugh.

[VIDEO PREMIERE] Blondfire: Where The Kids Are

Posted: 24 Oct 2011 04:02 PM PDT

This video had me at ‘Dreaded Cowboy Panda’ and glittery, peppermint candy filled evil panda blood. With crisp and light haunting vocals that waft over a sonic landscape of bold synths and electro warbles, Blondfire are a what the sonic lovechild of MGMT and Dragonette would sound like if produced by the boys of The Sound Of Arrows. The Brazilian/American brother/sister L.A. based duo have been hard at work scoring the first #1 on iTunes Alt. Chart for an unsigned act, being featured in 3 films and completing their self produced debut album, Win The Game. ‘Where The Kids Are’ is their first single off the upcoming LP and features a Lord Of The Flies-esque video directed by French director, Aurelien Levitan.
