MuuMuse Approved: Morgan Page – Body Work (feat. Tegan & Sara) Posted: 06 Dec 2011 01:10 PM PST And now for something COMPLETELY AMAZING. American House/Electro producer Morgan Page has been igniting dance floors across the country for the past few months thanks to “In The Air,” the monolithic anthem (and easily one of year’s best dance songs) featuring production by BT, Sultan & Ned Shepard and a hypnotizing vocal assist by Télépopmusik‘s Angela McCluskey. Enter Canadian indie folk-pop duo Tegan & Sara, who’ve seen their own fair share of success in the EDM world after their stunning collaboration with Dutch DJ Tiesto in 2009, “Feel It In My Bones.” Clearly the talented sisters have developed a bit of a thirst for a thumpin’ BPM, because they’ve headed right back into the studio with Morgan Page to craft “Body Work,” a brand new cut from Page’s forthcoming 2012 studio record. The result of the collaboration? Transcendence. “You do your body work/I feel my pulse working overtime,” the girls sing as the track dives into Page’s almighty hands-in-the-air beats. As with “Feel It In My Bones,” the girls’ jagged vocals provide the perfect contrast against the throbbing House pulsations. It’s an absolute smash, destined to dominate across dance floors, stadiums and arenas worldwide in 2012. Really though: If this doesn’t provide the motivation for some serious body work, nothing will. GET READY TO SWEAT! Morgan Page feat. Tegan and Sara – Body Work (Club Mix) by morganpage “Body Work (feat. Tegan & Sara)” was released to Beatport on November 30. (iTunes) |
Miike Snow Provides First Listen of Upcoming Album with “Devil’s Work” Posted: 06 Dec 2011 12:19 PM PST Miike Snow–perhaps better known as the passion project between Swedish production duo Bloodshy & Avant and American singer/producer Andrew Wyatt–is one of my favorite new acts of the past few years (and more impressively, one of the very few bands I adore.) Not only did the Swedish trio produce one of the Top 10 Albums of 2009 and provide Sky Ferreira with an awfully good song to cover, but they like to double up on their vowels, MuuMuse style. While an official single from the upcoming studio album isn’t due out until January, the boys decided to preview new material earlier today on BBC Radio 1′s The Zane Lowe Show. And judging by the song, we’re in for a much more aggressive and rockier release than their debut. “You don’t need to sell your shell/You do the Devil’s work/You finally found your place/You know it always was,” Wyatt angrily growls before drowning in a complicated mix of searing electronica, jagged piano stabs, blaring horns and crashing drums. To accompany the track, Swedish director Andreas Nillson (Fever Ray, The Knife) was brought on board to shoot an entire story based around the record. There isn’t much to see in the bleak Walking Dead-esque opening teaser so far, which features an unknown figure running and skipping down a desolate desert road for the entire length of the song. Someone’s got happy feet! I think… From the group’s mailer earlier today:
Intriguing and mysterious as always. I’m loving what I’m hearing so far! Miike Snow’s debut record was released in 2009. (iTunes) |
Koda Kumi’s Bringing Sexy Back on New Single “Love Me Back” Posted: 06 Dec 2011 08:59 AM PST God, I love me some Koda Kumi! The oft-controversial princess is not only responsible for countless J-Pop gems, but some of the most gasp-inducing moments I’ve ever witnessed in a Japanese music video–like this from “D.D.D”, or this from “Shake It.” She filthy. After unleashing her noisy electro-banger “POP DIVA” earlier this year (plus two other singles, “4 Times” and “Ai wo Tomenaide”) Kumi’s now coming out with her 52nd single (!!!) since her 2002 debut: “Love Me Back,” a super catchy uptempo with some swinging ’60′s spy flick influences. (And you thought RiRi pumped out singles quickly!) To properly play the part in the song’s accompanying clip, Kuu-chan slipped into something a bit more…her speed (read: a super slutty cop outfit and a super slutty nurse outfit). Prepare for some fierce bump ‘n’ grinding, suggestive night stick swinging, and a whole lot of prisoner lust. Lady Gaga could quite literally never! Oh, and if lap-dances delivered by Kumi are really the standard protocol for an interrogation in Japan, something tells me the country’s about to experience a major crime spree. DIAMONDS AND SAPPHIRES AND YOU…OH MY! “Love Me Back” was released on November 29. (iTunes Japan) |
Listen Now: Lady Gaga – Marry The Night (Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Remix) Posted: 06 Dec 2011 07:20 AM PST After the 13-minute video for “Marry The Night” premiered late last week, the remix package for Mademoiselle Gaga‘s fifth Born This Way single is now steadily making its way to the public. The first of which, produced by Belgian brother duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, smooths out Gaga’s grittier original with a blazing Ibiza-ready synthesizers and throbbing arena-ready pulsations, along with a gorgeous piano-led breakdown smack dab in the middle of the mix. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a good piano riff! Gives me pure ’90′s House nostalgia every single time. Lady Gaga – Marry The Night ( Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Remix ) by dimitrivegasandlikemike “Marry The Night” was released on November 15. (iTunes) |
