Kites With Lights: Night Colours

Posted: 26 Oct 2011 10:00 AM PDT

Kites With Lights was first featured on KKS as part of our August 2011 play list, because their track ‘Cosmonauts’ was all kinds of amazing. KWL is back and want to share ‘Night Colours’ with you. Dream pop with a dark synthy edge, a perfect sonic representation of driving though the inky night skies, hidden shadows, and shining lights that pop through the dark night.

Like Crazy Soundtrack

Posted: 26 Oct 2011 09:35 AM PDT

A love story is both a physical and emotional tale, one that can be deeply personal and heartbreaking for an audience to experience. Director Drake Doremus' film Like Crazy beautifully illustrates how your first real love is as thrilling and blissful as it is devastating. When a British college student falls for her American classmate they embark on a passionate and life-changing journey only to be separated when she violates the terms of her visa.

Like Crazy explores how a couple faces the real challenges of being together and of being apart. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Best Picture at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and of the Special Jury Prize for Best Actress for Felicity Jones, Like Crazy depicts both the hopefulness and the heartbreak of love.

Relativity Music Group and AOL Spinner have teamed up to stream the soundtrack for upcoming film and Sundance Film Festival Best Picture award winner. The soundtrack notably features tracks from Paul Simon, M83 and Stars alongside sweet yet soulful arrangements from composer Dustin O’Halloran. Click here to stream the Like Crazy soundtrack. I will say this, I’m always concerned with anyone who needs the idea of love. Understanding love is easy when the right you meets the right me.

I am in love with every single part of this video, beautifully shot, beautifully paced, and the animation is stunning. I love how music videos are becoming 3 or minute long cinematic affairs, the freedom of the internet has lifted the muzzle on creativity and access. M83 took the interwebs by storm with ‘Midnight City’ and have just dropped their debut LP, Hurry Up, We’re Still Dreaming. I am sure the dreamy, super hero inspired music video will only help people become enamored even more with M83‘s synth filled dreampop sound.

Alan Wilkis: Come and Go (Feat. The KickDrums)

Posted: 25 Oct 2011 02:23 PM PDT

The following mission statement will further define how this unique collaboration between one man’s idea came through to fruition with the help of like-minded, talented artists who lent their voices. Artists such as The KickDrums, Lyrics Born, Childish Gambino, and White Hinterland. I know, right?

PRINTS is a series of singles by Brooklyn-based recording artist and producer, ALAN WILKIS. For each song or "print," he first writes an instrumental piece and then collaborates with a different vocalist, sometimes together in the studio and sometimes via the web, until the "print" takes its shape. By drawing both himself and his collaborators out of their respective comfort zones, WILKIS hopes to push each "print" to new and unexpected heights.

WILKIS chose to name the project, PRINTS, largely because a "print" implies a certain beautiful simplicity, as well as an ability to stand alone as a piece of art. "Printing" can also refer to the act of rendering a recording session into a single audio file. Also, "prints" and "Prince" sound alike… and ALAN really likes Prince.
