Roscoe Dash featuring Big Sean “Sidity”

From his own singles “All The Way Turnt Up” and “Show Out”, to his track-stealing guest turns on Maino’s “Let It Fly”, Big Sean’s “Marvin & Chardonnay” and Waka Flocka Flame’s “No Hands”, the past year has seen 21-year-old new generation ATL-ien Roscoe Dash become an increasingly prominent threat for Drake in the “rapper/ kinda-sorta singer with the insane ability to craft instantly catchy, radio-baiting hooks” field of things.

His choruses, built of dramatically elongated syllables and druggy multi-tracked harmoniousness delivered in a high-pitched “nyah-nyah”-like tone, just turn every track blessed to have them into epic-sized, sing-along anthems, and when they hit the ears when one is half-drunk, it doesn’t even matter how silly the lyrics may be because they sound like “the truth”.

On “Sidity”, a cut to be found on Dash’s forthcoming debut EP J.U.I.C.E. (standing for Just Understand I Control Everything), he and guest star Big Sean spend their verses gawking in awe over a super-sophisticated Miss Independent (“She makes her dough/ She extraordinary/ And those hips and thighs you dream about she more than carries…”), but it’s another dose of Roscoe’s magically delicious hookery that’ll ultimately stay with you.

As producer Super Dave flips the stomping Dirty South shuffle into a silken R&B swirl, Dash hits all the right booty jam notes as he’s suddenly moved to get his Usher on, sounding like he’s floating in mid-air as he shower-croons his desire to get the sexy chick all to himself (“You got me wishing/ I could have it all baby just for one night”).
