Presenting a sweeeeeeet gift to their fans, American duo Valerna along with fellow LA girl Jen Lasher have created ‘Listen’ with one thing in mind – big bass and simple construction. At 30seconds, you gotta have good pair of headphones to even hear any sound the bass is so low! Regulars at LA club Avalon - Brett Sorrentino and RJ Buchananare are always hustling the west coast so be sure to party hard with them if your in the area!

Benny Goodman – Sing Sing Sing (Nick Thayer Bootleg)

benny Benny Goodman Sing Sing Sing (Nick Thayer Bootleg)

Remember the late 30's? Beautiful black and white scenes, the completion of the Golden Gate Bridge, Swing music…….Well I don't; I'm too young for that. But good music sticks around with no notion of time. And in this occasion it has traveled a long way to join us for the new year.

If you like some of those good old Benny Goodman tunes and live in modern times you're going to love this; Melbourne Dj Nick Thayer shows off his mash up skills in the classic song “Sing Sing Sing”; it captivates the great essence of the time period while modernizing the orchestra through great editing. I know The King of Swing would have never thought we would start 2012 this way.

[Throwback] Mew – Am I Wry? No.

mew11 1003x1024 [Throwback] Mew Am I Wry? No.

We spend a lot of time listening to music to bring you guys the latest and greatest. Sometimes that gets a little tiring, and it’s nice to go to back to our personal playlists and jam something we truly love. While this song is a little older for what we typically post, it’s one of my all time favorites. “Am I wry? No” from the Danish Indie band Mew, is originally from the album Half the World is Watching Me. You can also find it on Frengers, as well as the compilation CD Eggs Are Funny.

This particular song is a little faster paced than others on this album, and has a great cross between indie rock and shoegaze pop. Lead singer Jonas Bjerre’s voice dreamily carries over fits of fast-paced drumming and soft, melodic breaks, creating something amazing from start to finish.

Make sure to support the band, and go pick up their albums on iTunes.

Dark electronic-pop maestro, Mr Fogg has unveiled the first track from his currently untitled forthcoming second album. 'Stay Out Of The Sun' is a razor sharp slice of intelligent, melodic electronica that sees Fogg's vocals seamlessly weave through a bed of sizzling percussion and brooding electronic textures, all anchored by a driving kick drum. Although not officially released until February 28th, you can pick up a free download of the single by heading over to Mr Foggs's website now.

[Soundtrack] Portland Season 2

Posted: 06 Jan 2012 10:10 AM PST

The wait is finally over, Portland will premier this Friday on IFC. Last year they featured a lot of indie bands as their soundtrack to their show and we hope season 2 is no exception. You can also catch up on season 1 on Netflix today.
