I have not mentioned Vanbot, duo of Ester Ideskog and Sebastian Forslund, much here at Kick Kick Snare, but really the their self titled debut album has been one of my favorite albums of 2011, even 7 months after I first heard it, it is everything I could want in a pop album.  The duo has finally released the official video for their first single ‘Make Me, Break Me’ and I am more than happy to share it with you all.

For those of you who don’t know Vanbot, they musically rest somewhere, and very comfortably I might add, between the raw emotion of Robyn, the calmingly upbeat feel of Ellie Goulding/Starsmith and the emotional synths of Little Boots.  Ester‘s voice is clear and crisp – made for pop melodies. At times she sounds like Martina of Dragonette (Bad Day), at others she has the ethereal air of Kylie Minogue (Numb, Maybe), there is also a point (Make Me, Break Me) where she just screams pop diva Britney Spears (though without the need for Britney's computers).

Working to write this album on her own, over the span of quite some time, Ester and Sebastian have intensely and very sincerely worked to create something special and it shows.

Introducing Alphabet Backwards

Posted: 22 Nov 2011 07:37 AM PST

Alphabet Backwards is the light-hearted five piece band hailing from Oxford, England that has already been filling the ears of the United Kingdom with brilliantly crafted summery pop. Happy-go-lucky and hook laden with perfectly crisp vocals the sound Alphabet Backwards creates is irresistible and smile inducing. Even when the lyrics brush with the melancholy the music, driven by enthusiastic organic sounds and the perfect smattering of synths, keeps you feeling incredibly upbeat.

Having already made their mark at festivals and on radio alike in the U.K. they have set their sights on the US and plan to conquer us all with their British Explorer EP which is set to be released just after Thanksgiving on the 28th of November. The three track EP will include their lead single ‘Taller’ along with 2 other equally wonderful tracks. Take a listen and download the track ‘Plastic’ below. Watch the video for the new lead single ‘Taller’ after the jump. If you want to hear more from them head over to Facebook and have a listen to more from Alphabet Backwards.
