Posted: 08 Nov 2011 02:34 PM PST “When I Was Young” is a melodic cut from Nada Surf’s new album, The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy, out on January 24 via Barsuk. It starts out at a slow calm pace but muscles through with a strong finish. It’s been a while since I listened to these guys, but this is definitely a good way to come back.

It has this hard driven passion about it that makes me really confident about the recorded version of this single. My adoration of Ms. Del Rey has become an unpopular decision but if she keeps writing pop songs of this quality, I have no shame.
