The Musical Genuis of Jarrad Kritzstein Posted: 18 Nov 2011 01:50 PM PST Jarrad Kritzstein was an unusual kid. While other children in Lake Forest, CA spent hours playing Nintendo, setting off bottle rockets, and hiding from parental figures, he ran off to spend time with his Dad and Dad’s guitar. Superheroes and explosions were cool, but music was the flame to which Little Jarrad was drawn. Now, years later, Jarrad has utilized his own studio in Atwater village to produce for Universal’s Jaymee Dee, Side One’s Audra Mae and the Almighty Sound, and Zak Waters. He doesn’t stop there–the innovative Kritzstein also performs on those self-same albums, tours, and serves as the frontman of Baywood. It’s in that role that he’s co-written the song “I Can Breathe Again,” currently #1 in Denver, and written and produced “Holy Moses,” nominated for two Aria awards. While Jarrad certainly has made a profession out of childhood obsession, he maintains the same childlike enthusiasm, passion, and adventure that gives music legs…and leaves us all wishing we had laid off the fireworks and video games too. For your streaming pleasure, feast your ears on the two remixes below chopped under Jarrad’s remixing moniker Bam Karate. More highly trained displays of musical ninjutsu, stealthy movements and talent far from being camouflaged. Body Language: Holiday (RAC Mix) Posted: 18 Nov 2011 01:44 PM PST Andre Allen Anjos, founder and coordinator of the Remix Artist Collective (RAC), can basically remix your least favorite song into the song you’d play while proposing to your significant other. He uploads gold, hits “save as” and a shiny platinum aif file appears. Turns out, the lucky Body Language is one of Andre’s favorite new bands. The original version of Holiday is pretty fast, so he just went kind of new wave with it. Like most of his work, although perhaps a little more present than normal, the piano is inspired by Ryuichi Sakamoto, and for those a little more musically inclined see if you can find where he snuck in the Amen Break.
