Charli XCX Premieres Kaleidoscopic Video for “Nuclear Seasons”

Posted: 22 Nov 2011 11:45 AM PST

Oh, Charli XCX!

After premiering the staggeringly amazing “Stay Away” (expect that one to rank high on my year-end “Best of 2011″ list), the young UK goth-pop princess (who I “Introduuced” not too long ago) has just delivered the video treatment for her bouncing, brooding new ’80′s-encrusted tune: “Nuclear Seasons.”

Complete with some dizzying video effects and nostalgia-ridden technicolor and static, Mizz Charli dazzles and dances her way through the VHS-friendly fantasy, directed by Ryan Andrews.

I can see lil’ bits of Little Boots, Lykke Li and Marina & The Diamonds scattered within this clip, but mostly (and most importantly), I see a whole lot of potential lurking just ’round the corner.

Charli XCX, everyone: Easily one of my most anticipated debuts of 2012. Bring it on, madame!

“Nuclear Seasons” is available for free download on Charli XCX’s official website. (iTunes UK)

Win A Copy of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way: The Remix! (Giveaway)

Cover 300RGB Win A Copy of Lady Gagas Born This Way: The Remix! (Giveaway)

Last weekend, my bloggy BFFL Jon ALi and I went on a road trip to Boston. And in between the scream-singing of a majority of Talk That Talk (and some Kat DeLuna, but we’re not talking about that right now), Jon played me some of his favorite mixes from Mademoiselle Gaga‘s brand new remix album: Born This Way: The Remix.

The entire remix package is actually a pretty schweet deal, full of both throbbing, cardio-friendly House cuts and unconventionally moody re-inventions of the originals.

Along with offerings by some of MuuMuse’s favorite acts (including Hurts and Goldfrapp), instant favorites from the bunch include the haunting, dissonant re-rub of “Marry The Night” by The Weeknd & Illangelo, the brooding Depeche Mode-esque “Bloody Mary” mix by The Horrors and the reliably amazing throbbing mix of “Edge of Glory” by Sultan & Ned Shepard (who’ve worked on countless smashes with MuuMuse favorite Nadia Ali).

But my all-time favorite of the bunch so far is “Electric Chapel,” a track I’d never paid much attention to when listening to Born This Way. As it turns out, the remix was crafted by Two Door Cinema Club, the UK indie-pop trio that I “Introduuced” in the early, early days of MuuMuse back around January of ’09. (I know…positively ancient!)

As Jon explained before hitting play, the “Electric Chapel” mix is basically the ultimate stripper anthem. In fact, I’ve already assembled a tasteful nun habit to perform the mix during my nightly revue at The Cock, so watch out for that.

ANYWAY…

To celebrate the release, MuuMuse is giving away FIVE COPIES of Born This Way: The Remix.

To enter to win, follow me on Twitter (@MuuMuse) and tweet me with the following phrase:

I want to be born again with @MuuMuse! #BornThisWayTheRemix http://bit.ly/uBEEUi

Five winners will be selected and notified on Tuesday, November 29. US entries only, please.

NOW DANCE, YOU MOTHERFUCKERS.

Born This Way: The Remix was released on November 21. (iTunes)

Daily B: Britney Talks to Peter Robinson for Stylist Magazine

britney spears v magazine spring 2011 08 Daily B: Britney Talks to Peter Robinson for Stylist Magazine

Hot off the heels of his interview with Britney posted back in August, PopJustice‘s Peter Robinson was invited to chat with the Holy Spearit once again for the UK’s Stylist.

The results? Roughly more of the same, although if anyone’s gotten Godney to budge and offer anything beyond her industry standard answers (“Cool,” “Fun,” “Sex & The City,” “Vanilla Candles”), it’s Mr. PJ.

Five tantalizing tidbits below… (Make sure to head over to Stylist now for the full interview!)

What was the last book you read?

The Mastery Of Love [sub-titled A Practical Guide To The Art Of Relationship by Don Miguel Ruiz]. It's basically an analysis of love and what it means to love. It goes through all the different aspects of love. Who you are as a person, knowing yourself before you even attempt to love anyone else; that sort of thing. It's really well-written and thought-provoking.

You've said in the past that it's a thirst for success that defines you. Has your definition of success changed over the years?

For me, success is a state of mind. I feel like success isn't about conquering something, it's being happy with who you are.

When you're performing, what are you thinking about?

What do I think about? Wow. Usually I'm so in the moment of being there with the audience that I don't really have time to think about anything. You're just focused on the tunes and what you're doing and interacting with the audience and making sure you're on cue. It's more like a yoga state of mind, you know?

What music are you listening to at the moment?

Well I usually listen to a lot of hip-hop in my dressing room when I'm getting ready to go on stage, so Jay-Z a lot recently. And a lot of rock stuff like Aerosmith. That really gets me going and pumps me up. And then of course, there's Jessie J and Adele.

Who'd be your dream musical collaboration at this stage?

I like Gwen Stefani.

Gwen Stefani…could you even imagine?! Britney, how are you always so perfect? Let’s allow our imaginations run wild with one of my favorite Brit Brit mash-ups from back in the day: “Tic Toxic”!

Kylie Minogue Performs on X Factor Australia, Prepares Aphrodite Goddess Edition and Unveils New Logo

Buckle up baby, feel my speed…it’s time for a whirlwind Queen Kylie wrap-up!

First things first: Kylie took to Twitter earlier this morning to unveil the brand new logo to commemorate her 25th year in the industry (above). As you can see, it contains (A) razzle, (B) dazzle, and (C) enough sharp corners to poke your eyes out. Watch where you’re pointing that thing, KM!

The logo will likely come packaged along with Kylie’s upcoming acoustic/orchestral greatest hits collection due out in 2012, which she performed a taste of during EMI’s New Music Sessions a few weeks ago.

Earlier this week, the newly brunette disco diva appeared on the grand finale of X Factor Australia to perform in a mega Kylie mash-up with the 12 finalists of the competition.

More accurately, Kylie appeared onstage to perform a show-stopping rendition of “All The Lovers” after 12 randoms utterly butchered the shit out of her classics, “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” and “Better The Devil You Know.” Like, seriously painful. Thank God the Goddess was there to do the job properly!

Speaking of goddesses: Get excited (and start saving your pennies), super fans! After being announced way back in May, it seems the special Goddess edition of Mizz Minogue’s flaw-free 2010 collection Aphrodite is finally seeing the light of day!

Above is a full 2 1/2-minute page-by-page flip through the gorgeous Australia-only collector’s item (priced at a not-so-cheap $199) that was uploaded late last week, complete with full pop-up illustrations and behind-the-scenes sketches and photographs from the Aphrodite Les Folies Tour. I can haz for Hanukkah, plz?

VIVA LA MINOGUE!
