Young Empires – Enter Through The Sun Posted: 10 Nov 2011 11:11 PM PST Today, on the glorious date of 11/11/11, our friends Young Empires have released their new single “Enter Through The Sun”. The release comes via the label Pirates Blend. The clean vibrant dance efforts that have made them one of my favorite up-and-comers is not lost on “Enter Through The Sun”. Feel good chants over deep bass grooves make a nice pact with icy cool synths. It’s the bands tightest moment yet, leaving a solid feeling that this is only the beginning. There’s not a doubt in my mind that Young Empires are in for a big 2012. Give “Enter Through The Sun” a listen below. Be sure to like them on facebook while you’re listening. |
Out Side Room – Don’t Sit Down Cause I Feel Good Inc. (Arctic Monkeys // Gorillaz Cover) Posted: 10 Nov 2011 07:08 PM PST Just came across this really incredible cover/mashup by a band called Out Side Room who come from East Sussex, England. They start by covering “Feel Good Inc” by Gorillaz, and then transition smoothly into Arctic Monkeys’ “Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair”. The title of the cover works just as well as this mix does. These guys do spotless renditions of both songs, and somehow create an amazing medley that becomes their own incredible fusion. Well done fellas. Take a listen to the incredible cover/mashup below. It will make your day that much better. Head to their facebook page to listen to their own material. [new]: The Rapture – In Love Divine Posted: 10 Nov 2011 03:04 PM PST Sometimes songs don’t fit on a band’s album. This is often why we have b-sides. Some bands best music comes through b-sides. This is usually because the band records the music honestly, without worrying about it fitting in. But sometimes these b-sides are so damn good that you really wonder how it isn’t on the album. This is certainly the case with “In Love Divine”, a song that was included as a bonus track of the Japanese version of The Rapture’s new album, In The Grace Of Your Love. It’s a thunderous track full on booming psychedelic influences and fantastic dance undertones. It’s arguably one of the best things that they’ve ever released. It definitely sounds more like something they would have done earlier, which is probably why it didn’t make the cut, but damn, this track deserves to be heard by everyone. Take a listen to it below via Some Kind Of Awesome. |
[music video]: Friendly Fires – Hurting Posted: 10 Nov 2011 02:18 PM PST Friendly Fires have released a new music video for the Pala funk-tastic jam “Hurting”. Directed by David Lewandowski, the video is a bizzare affair. Definitely comical for various reasons. “Hurting” seriously gets better with every listen. Watch it below.

Posted: 10 Nov 2011 01:34 PM PST We Are Pirates are three friends (Ricardo Vieira, João Paulo Dalla and Bruno Moreira) from Brazil. They sent me a track called “Canyon” that has me thrilled with this fantastic discovery. “Canyon” is gifted with one of the most addicting guitar riffs that you will hear all year. It features a rocking dance groove that is refreshing smooth and thrilling. For a new band these guys have got a successful formula down to pact. I’m really, really, impressed. They describe their sound as “a way of revealing the world within their restless minds”. Take a trip into their minds and see if you’re still restless. [new]: The Black Keys – Run Right Back Posted: 10 Nov 2011 12:40 PM PST A radio rip (from Zane Lowe’s radio show) has emerged of a new song from The Black Keys called “Run Right Back”. It’s the b-side to their “Lonely Boy” single, but also a track on their upcoming new album, El Camino. With a funky guitar riff and bass happy groove, this is more southern rock growl to soothe the soul. Don’t make your best albums of 2011 lists yet. You’re gonna have to make room for El Camino. El Camino drops on December 6. Pre-Order it here. Take a listen to “Run Right Back” below. |
The Horrors – Suffragette City (David Bowie Cover) Posted: 10 Nov 2011 07:18 AM PST The Horrors covered David Bowie’s “Suffragette City” while on Channel 4′s “On Track..”. The performance was performed in one take at London’s Metropolis Studios. Watch the performance below: |
