Hotly tipped London folk rockers Dry The River have just unveiled the striking video for 'Weights & Measures', the beautifully crafted title track of their forthcoming EP. Recorded during the sessions for their highly anticipated debut album, which is set for an early 2012 release, 'Weights & Measures' comes wrapped in shimmering vocal harmonies woven between layers of guitar that escalate to a graceful crescendo. We Are Pirates: Canyon Posted: 11 Nov 2011 06:00 AM PST Thanks the guys over at We All Want Someone to Shout For who posted the great track by the Brazilian band We Are Pirates. The band is made of three friends, Ricardo Vieira, João Paulo Dalla, and Bruno Moreira and have only just formed in 2011. Though given their well put together sound, great musicianship and tight pop melodies it is hard to believe they have only just started creating music together. They describe the origins of their sound as “Looking for beautiful melodies on lost synthesizers in a gloomy basement, combining with the simplicity of dirty and distorted tones.” This mentality shines through on a moody, lo-fi track that mixes both synthesizers and the sound of organic instruments, and a healthy helping of drums that are firmly routed in Brazilian sound. I (Wes) was very fortunate to have the opportunity to meet the very talented and very lovely V.V. Brown while she was here in Washington, DC for a show at DC9. V.V. will very much speak for herself in the interview, but overall I was incredibly impressed with her sincere and candid nature and how much care and thought goes into every piece of her music.
