Wait for it… wait for it… waiiittt… and (at 1:17) there it is! Blast off into the swirling-synth-space-scape of the album art and be the hero we all know you are! Melbourne’s Verona have only released a few tracks but already its clear that these two guys know their way around a great track. I really dig the way the song has phases, evolving into the next groove and eventually closing out with that fantastic piano line.

I just can’t get into the Eagles Of Death Metal frontman’s solo project as Boots Electric. The album was certainly named appropriately but I guess Honkey Kong is just not my genre. I need more balls in my guitar shredding! Oddly enough its the LP’s most neutered track that I’m actually digging. “I Love You All The Time” is perfectly bouncy in its sappy love confessions. Its missing Hughes’ signature raunch (see videos for Honkey Kong singles “Complexity” and “Boots Electric Theme”) but it somehow works. The man has range. And hops.

[QUICKIE] Drake – TAKE CARE

OK Drake has grown on me. Im a fan. Take Care is not album of the year but it IS a great testamant to the man’s talents. Ill keep listening.
