Diana+Vickers+++2011+PNG Diana Vickers Returns with Music to Make The Boys Cry on New Buzz Track

It’s been a hot minute since we last heard from X Factor alum Diana Vickers, and now we know why: She’s been busy making music to make the boys cry!

After unleashing her gorgeous, incredibly solid debut Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree back in May of 2010 (which spawned such major MuuMuse Approved tracks as “Once” and “The Boy Who Murdered Love”), the singer has returned with a brand new beat: “Music To Make The Boys Cry,” which has just appeared on Vickers’ newly redesigned website.

“Tonight my feet are moving to a different beat/It’s alright, I’ve always liked my romance bittersweet/It’s what I need,” Vickers sings above the twinkling, ’80′s-lite mid-tempo beat.

The lyrics are as strong as ever (she’s always got that slightly unexpected dark edge in her songs, no?) and the synth-pop production is all very dazzling and darling, although I’m not sure “Music To Make The Boys Cry” is quite as punchy or compelling as the lead singles from her debut. But then, that’s why the ‘buzz track’ was born in the first place, no? It’s just a taste!

So far so good. We’re all happy you’re back–now bring on the new album, Mizz Vickers!

SHUT THE FUCK UP AND BOW THE FUCK DOWN.

As you may have already known from the post earlier today, Queen of Icy-R&B Cassie was due to make an appearance on BET’s 106 & Park earlier this evening to premiere the teaser trailer for her upcoming single, “King of Hearts.”

But what you might not have known is just how fucking E-P-I-C that trailer was actually going to be.

As you’ll see above, in just over 30 seconds flat, Cassie “Don’t Call It A Comeback” Ventura just snatched the wig from just about every pop bitch in the building.

Flames, photographs and boobie straps…I’m quite literally not ready!

Roisin Murphy Provides Pure Aural Pleasure with “Simulation”

After teasing tracks like “Momma’s Place” and “Demon Lover” over the past few years since her immaculate 2007 record Overpowered, Irish Queen of Disco Róisín Murphy has just unleashed a brand new track that’s bound to bowl you (and bend you?) over: “Simulation,” a jaw-dropping 9-minute monster of groans, moans and aural pleasure.

According to my Murphy-minded friends over at Hard Candy Music, the track was crafted by an unrevealed producer from Northern England. And right now, the mystery is only adding to the song’s sexy intrigue!

Kicking off with a little cooing on top of a dirty bass line, the Irish Queen of Disco keeps her cool for the first few minutes: “This is a simulation,” she announces as the vintage disco sheen slowly envelops the speakers. But as the beat swells and the pulsations grow stronger, Murphy only gets more hot and bothered: “If it’s all on my face, it’s all in my mind/You don’t get to be unkind,” she croons.

And then, as the pressure builds to an all time high, Murphy launches into a final euphoric minute of moans and groans and coos, breathing deeper and faster and harder until–I’m sorry. I need to excuse myself.

Phew. “Simulation” isn’t just an instant disco classic–it’s the musical equivalent of foreplay…and I’m stimulated!

Now someone make a mega mash-up of this with Janet‘s “Throb” and Britney‘s “Breathe On Me” STAT!

A big thank you to my friends over at Hard Candy Music for the incredible find!

Goldfrapp to Release Greatest Hits Album in February, New Single “Yellow Halo”

Goldfrapp have been going strong for well over a decade, supplying everything from lush, dreamy tunes (“Black Cherry,” “A&E”), to bouncy electro anthems (“Rocket,” “Number 1″) to grinding synth ‘n’ sex fests (“Strict Machine,” “Ooh La La”).

Appropriately then, it came as no surprise when Allison Goldfrapp tweeted this morning that the duo would be unleashing their first-ever greatest hits collection on February 6.

The album, entitled The Singles–is a concise, to-the-point collection of the band’s best singles (an essential primer, no doubt). From the official website:

The Singles, is the first compilation from the band, taking in the cinematic electronica of their Mercury shortlisted debut album Felt Mountain, through the electro glam of Black Cherry, the Grammy nominated, half-million selling dance pop of Supernature, the Pagan, electro-folk of Seventh Tree and last year's, top 10 album, the hands-in-the-air, retro-futuristic Head First.

Above is the cover art for The Singles which–in my estimation–might be the amazing Greatest Hits cover art of all time, featuring elements of every album cover from the band’s entire discography. It’s genius!

The upcoming collection will also include two new songs: “Melancholy Sky” and “Yellow Halo.” Luckily, there’s not much of a wait to hear either track: The group performed “Melancholy Sky” recently at the Mencap Noise Sessions, and the video for “Yellow Halo” was unleashed earlier today.

From Allison’s Twitter:

There is a little film we made while in South America all shot on iPhone ‘Yellow Halo’ is the song x Lisa Gunning made the little film to ‘Yellow Halo’ xxx thanks Lisa! Xxx

“Dawn breaks endlessly, wake up to me/What are you dreaming?” Goldfrapp cooly sighs. Echoed croons and lush instrumentation: It’s like a combination of the electronic elements of 2000′s Felt Mountain and 2008′s gorgeously airy Seventh Tree. Tell me, am I dreaming?

MuuMuse Approved: Cassie – “Gimme That”

0141 MuuMuse Approved: Cassie Gimme That

As I explained in my PowerPoint presentation on The Genius of Keri Hilson‘s “Gimme What I Want,” it is an indisputable scientific fact that any song with the word “Gimme” in the title is a certifiable smash–there’s Britney‘s “Gimme More,” Ciara‘s “Gimmie Dat”–and now, to no one’s surprise, Cassie‘s own “Gimme That.”

Since her 2006 debut, the flaw-free icy electro-R&B queen has been drifting away from the chilly synthesizers to embrace some rather fiery club beats, as evidenced on her 2009 RedOne stormer “Let’s Get Crazy” and her recent breezy collaboration with Japan’s DJ Komori on “Sound of Love.” But now, Cassie’s hitting the floor with straight fever.

“Gimme That”–the latest leak from her ever-elusive sophomore release–finds Cassie slicing up the drippy, chilly beats of Kelly Rowland‘s “Motivation” (or perhaps even her own “Me & U”) and sauteing them with some searing four-to-the-floor House beats. The result? HOT FIYAH DELICIOUSNESS!

“Gimme that/I know you got it, even with your hands behind your back,” Cassie monotones on top of the surging chorus. It’s a relentlessly mayjah club banga, proving once again that the Connecticutian speak-singing chanteuse will forever hold the crown. (Sorry, CiCi!)

While we breathlessly await the release of her brand new single “King Of Hearts” (a new teaser trailer and website are launching tonight at 6:30 PM EST!) “Gimme That” is giving me all I need and more to get through this day.

CASSIE VENTURA: FAVE SLAYER SINCE 2006.

“King of Hearts” will be released in December. (iTunes)
