Coco Morier: Journey To the Center of the World + Free show at Bootleg Bar Dec. 5th Posted: 05 Dec 2011 08:54 AM PST Coco Morier‘s music is what pop should be – powerful, sexy, strut inducing, guitar heavy electro-pop. Coco Morier is the new musical adventure of Nicole Morier who you may know from LA’s Electrocute. Coco draws on strong musical woman with a sound that is reminiscent of Garbage, Dragonette and The Soho Dolls. Before Coco, Nicole had many notable writing collaborations with Miike Snow, Junkie XL, Tom Jones, and the Princess of Pop herself, Britney Spears. Coco Morier is an incredible burst of energy ready to explode onto the pop scene, but don’t just take my word for it, listen and download her lead track ‘Journey To The Center of the World’ below and see her live in action for yourself tonight at Bootleg Bar on Beverly Boulevard in LA. Doors Open at 730 and admission is free. MP3:Journey to the Center of the World by Coco Morier |
Posted: 05 Dec 2011 08:29 AM PST Katie Kate is a musician from Seattle who is creating music that is defying genres and mixing influences from electro, to hip-hop, to pop and tons of others. Sonically her mix of styles places her somewhere along Kay, Robyn and Santigold, but with a flair that is all her own. Her track ‘Bad Amazon’ is a track that really explains where Katie Kate is coming from musically. “Bad Amazon is a pretty abstract track for me. It’s sort of about the transition from being a classical flute player to being a rapper and moving across the country. Totally new surroundings, new expectations, and I remember it all being exotic and slightly frightening. My friend Lena recorded the wooden flute riff and guitar part on a whim, and it sounded very South American, so we just kind of rolled with the Amazon theme, and found it fitting since we’re both women. I don’t tend to plan out what my songs are going to be about, so I ended up with something personally deep and symbolic and meaningful, that is also probably the perfect song to bump while tooling around in your car with your girlfriends prior to a night of heavy drinking.” Katie Kate has self released her debut album Flatlands and you can check out more of it at her Bandcamp page. KickKickSnare is very happy to offer Bad Amazon free to our readers. MP3: Bad Amazon by Katie Kate |
