[Electronica] Voltaire Twins – Romulus (Moullinex Remix) Posted: 21 Dec 2011 02:25 PM PST Australian siblings Jaymes and Tegan make up the electro-pop duo known as Voltaire Twins. To wind up what has been a big year for the band, the title track from their latest EP, ‘Romulus’, has been remixed by talented producer Moullinex. A light house track with fresh synths and gorgeous vocals, ‘Romulus’ should set many a New Year’s Eve disco alight. Voltaire Twins are set to make 2012 their year, so watch this space for more. [Electro House] Mord Fustang – We Are Connected Posted: 21 Dec 2011 09:09 AM PST Was going to start the post by saying, here is another SOLID track by Mord Fustang and yet I just can’t bare to type just that. It would unjust and an insult to Mr Fustang. The more I listen to the new single ‘We Are Connected’ the more I love it. You see, the thing about the current state in the EDM world is that with its explosion in popularity over the last couple of months, especially in the United States of America, more people are looking for an aggressive sound, for the next club banger. Dubstep, brostep, and even a lot progressive house tracks are trying to out-do one another causing for many talented producers to be overlooked. We are definitely guilty of promoting the filth, as it seems to be one of our weak spots here at The Music Ninja. However, there is something to be said for a track that while minimalistic in comparison, can still produce an enormous amount of melody. We have to forget the ‘go hard or go home’ mentality currently plaguing the EDM world and appreciate the emotions that a track like this one invokes in us. Mord Fustang has created a beautifully evolving electro house single, kind of reminiscent of deadmau5′s earlier work yet still inherently unique. I can’t wait for more Mord Fustang in 2012. Must Listen: Sunday Girl – Where Is My Mind (Pixies cover) Posted: 21 Dec 2011 08:26 AM PST This completely made me happy this morning. Where is My Mind is one of those classics that are just timeless. Every time I come across it in some type of fashion, it still makes me reflect on my current mental state. Whether I am happy to embrace another new year, thinking about my current living situation and hopefully moving to a different/better city in the next couple of weeks, or simply dwelling on new ideas for the blog, Where Is My Mind is a therapeutic song I feel everyone should listen to from time to time. Anyways, a bit more of a personal post than usual but this amazing cover by the beautiful voice of Sunday Girl just has the subtle ability to bring up emotions with her delicate care of one of the most popular songs from the Pixies. What are you thinking about today?
