Ke$ha featuring Wiz Khalifa, Andre 3000, T.I. & Lil’ Wayne “Sleazy Remix 2.0 (Get Sleazier)” Posted: 12 Dec 2011 06:18 PM PST As little sense as it made on paper when word got around that Andre 3000 had opted to make one of his rare ventures outside of whatever awesome planet he hides out on to bless a Ke$ha track of all things, the resulting marriage of Ke$ha’s hopscotch-electro-pop ditty and a typically spectacular Three Stacks verse ended up leaning a bit more into the realm of bad-ass than initially expected. Fast forward nearly a year later and “Sleazy” has been made even “Sleazier” by being turned into a all-star posse cut event for Wayne, Wiz and T.I. (alongside the old Andre cameo) to all get a lick off the “phat” rat-a-tat beat that makes 3000′s beloved “Keesha” want to…erm, soil herself. Unsurprisingly, with all this star power attached, the track makes a strong bid for Top Winter of ’11 Banger (the new “Swagga Like Us”, perhaps?), and while no one truly bests Stacks’ lyrical contribution entire verse wise, plenty o’ fun is had from hearing the rappers sound like they’re in a competition over who can lace the beat with the hottest speedy flow. Elle Varner “Sound Proof Room” Posted: 12 Dec 2011 02:54 PM PST R&B newcomer Elle Varner has already served 90′s hip hop-soul cool on hit introductory single “Only Wanna Give It To You”, then made an odd R&B(luegrass)-type fusion work surprisingly well on “Refill”. After those two samples (from her forthcoming debut Perfectly Imperfect), we’ve now come to the conclusion that we don’t know what the hell to expect when it comes to this girl’s music, which is an exciting feeling to have especially considering she’s still so brand-new to the scene. So what kind of unique stylistic choices does Elle deal with on the recently emerged “Sound Proof Room”? How about an incredible blast of old-school-baked progressive-soul that makes it sound like Elle and songwriter/ production duo Oak & Pop (Nicki Minaj’s “Your Love”, Diggy Simmons’ “Copy, Paste”, Fantasia’s “Collard Greens & Cornbread”) were indulging something heavy in the greatness of ’70′s-era Stevie Wonder, helping the track easily nab the honor of being Varner’s best song yet? On “Proof” it seems that Elle is feeling a little–no, a “lotta” frisky, the thought of flying past the “innocent games” and getting down with a little “badly behavior” with a dream boo leaving her nether-regions throbbing so hard she sounds like she’s about to explode out of her skin. And explode she does, the fantasy of snatching her crush up for a round of louder-than-loud relations inspiring some top-of-range “Boy we’re gonna need a sound proof room!!!” declarations and a backing arrangement that blooms from a sunny soulful shimmer to a riotous charge of electric guitar chugs, stuttering drum patters, pummeling bassline ascensions and rising background vox support (assisted by Moms!!!) that increasingly billows to orgasmic heights. A stunner of a record that will surely bring a house down live, with “Sound Proof Room”, Varner not only further solidifies herself as “One 2 Watch” in 2012, she basically sounds like she’s about to own the damn year in female R&B. All other divas, whether up-and-coming or established: beware of this one. “Sound Proof Room”: This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
