Posted: 05 Dec 2011 08:13 PM PST Guards new single “Do It Again” is straight up rock goodness. It hits hard with crunchy guitars that just scream summer fun. Sure, it’s December but why get rid of such a feel good aesthetic? It features a simple chorus of “Do It Again” that just sounds so…damn…good. It’s being released through White Iris Records as a blue vinyl. Download it below. [mp3]: Guards – Do It Again This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
[new]: Shearwater – Breaking The Yearlings Posted: 05 Dec 2011 07:55 PM PST “Breaking The Yearlings” is a new Shearwater song from their upcoming LP, Animal Joy. This is epic indie rock with a fine flair for the dramatic that hits hard. These guys have one of the most distinct, unique sounds out there. Anyone who tells you otherwise is wrong. [mp3]: Shearwater – Breaking The Yearlings Animal Joy comes out February 14 via Sub Pop. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Jonny Greenwood Scoring Paul Thomas Anderson’s New Movie: The Master Posted: 05 Dec 2011 04:35 PM PST As my favorite movie blog /film points out, Jonny Greenwood, guitarist of Radiohead, is set to score the next Paul Thomas Anderson movie, The Master. It stars Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, and Laura Dern. Not half bad. Jonny scored Paul Thomas Anderson’s last film, There Will Be Blood. His score helped contribute a great deal to the film, which was a powerhouse to begin with. The info came from Oliver Weindling who is the founder of the record label Babel. He tweeted that one of his bands, Zed-U, helped recorded part of soundtrack for Jonny Greenwood for the new Anderson film. This is fantastic movies for movie/music fans a-like. |

[new]: Islands – This Is Not A Song Posted: 05 Dec 2011 03:15 PM PST You can always count on Nick Thorburn for new music, the man is always releasing something of quality. Good news for you fans of Islands, because there’s a new album coming. The album is titled Asleep & A Forgetting, and will be released via Anti- on February 14. The band has shared “This Is Not A Song” from the album. It’s very much a song. A very good one at that. It’s a sparse number that just may welcome some slow dancing. I mean that in all the best ways. It’s a lighter, slower side to Islands, and I think it’s fantastic.
