Posted: 15 Dec 2011 08:23 PM PST After a brief silent spell, Brooklyn noise pop enthusiasts/ blog darlings Sleigh Bells have returned with new single “Born To Lose”, an early preview of their February-due sophomore release Reign of Terror that finds the duo of Derek E. Miller and Alexis Krauss keeping their promise to continue to batter our brains in with more of their distortion-heavy dreaminess. Blaring out the gate with a densely layered wall of “rawk” that fills up every inch of available air space with huger-than-huge fuzzed-out electric guitar riffs, the insistent pummel of rat-a-tat drums and old school video game effects, and cheerleader-y chants causing an infectious ruckus just a bit off into the distance around Krauss’ child-like coos, “Lose” is just a menacing, Godzilla-sized monster of a record, proving that the LOUD!!!-soft formula that earned the group very high critical marks on their 2010 debut Treats has lost none of its in-the-red charms a year later. CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS ALBUM! BONUS: Sleigh Bells “Rill Rill (George Lenton Remix)” (alt) |
