The Good Natured “Video Voyeur” Posted: 05 Dec 2011 08:48 PM PST Yet another band to emerge that is helping make sure the modern-day fascination over everything ’80′s will never end, British electro goth-pop outfit The Good Natured look like they’ve just got off a time machine sent straight from an early-era MTV music video but, to their credit, do a fine job sounding like it too. On “Video Voyeur”, an early taste from a debut set for release in 2012, the trio of sharp, yesteryear haircuts offer an infectious flashback to better, synth-ier times, with kittenish frontwoman Sarah McIntosh sounding way too comfortable portraying an “Ooh ahh ahh”-purring stalker-woman freak-a-leak getting off on every move made by the guy on the other end of her video lens (“I can see your body screaming/ It makes me feel alive”). She’s a bit creepy, but “Voyeur”‘s hook, the driving one-two punch bandmates George and Hamish dish out on the bass and drums, and the sugary new wave delirium of that A-ha/ “Take On Me”-reminiscent arpeggiated synth attack on the bridge are pure pop heaven. Posted: 05 Dec 2011 03:45 PM PST While his band, brief late ’00′s indie-pop sensation Black Kids, continue work on their forthcoming sophomore effort (one we’ll be looking forward too, especially if it contains anything as bopping-alone-at-home friendly as “big hit” “I’m Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You” or the woefully under-appreciated follow-up “Look At Me (When I Rock Wichoo)”), bassist Owen Holmes has kept himself even more busy by splintering back off into solo side-project Gospel Music, an act that can currently be found on tour in support of its October-released debut LP How To Get To Heaven From Jacksonville, FL. The album’s second single “Apartment” is being tossed out for free download and it’s a lovely lil’ freebie, serving pleasant ’90′s college rock guitar jangle and Holmes’ comically-deep baritone playing opposite the girlishly twee lead vocals of singer Madeline Long in the roles of two ex-lovers getting back together for the ninth, no tenth time (but “who’s counting?”). However, to save themselves the embarrassment of having to deal with the judging eyes of their respective friends, this latest, likely temporary, reunion will be kept strictly indoors, or more specifically Long’s apartment, where the drinks are cheap, she’ll play his barkeep (awww!!!) and clothes aren’t a requirement (awww sooky sooky now!!).
