Rising hip-hop star Fashawn has been busy with Exile creating ‘Champagne And Styrofoam Cups”, the follow-up to last year’s ‘Boy Meets World’, set for release in March 2012. The record is set to be accompanied by a short film directed by Punit Dhesi. However, Fashawn’s also collaborated with other producers to put together some cracking tracks, like the killer ‘Generation F’, produced by the acclaimed ATG (Against The Grain). Watch this space for more from this talented emcee.

Musical royalty Charlotte Gainsbourg has been working hard on her soon-to-be-released double album ‘Stage Whisper’. It features a mix of genres, but one of the highlights is ‘Out Of Touch’. This track features breezily slow and gentle instrumentals, which complements Gainsbourg’s delicately sexy vocals to perfection. A definite must-buy, ‘Stage Whisper’ is out on December 13.

[Experimental] TOKiMONSTA – Swine And Burgers

20111201 194944 [Experimental] TOKiMONSTA Swine And Burgers

Jennifer Lee is better known as TOKiMONSTA, one of LA electro collective Brainfeeder’s biggest talents. She’s put out various snippets of her experimental dance music, including her debut ‘Midnight Menu’. She dropped an unreleased track, ‘Swine And Burgers’ very recently, and it’s hard to see why it didn’t make the cut for her official releases. ‘Swine And Burgers’ is both ambient and noisy, and proves Lee’s reputation as one of electro’s boundary-pushers. Keep your ears to the ground for more from this incredible artist.

20111201 191925 [Rock] The Black Keys Stop Stop & Little Black Submarines

Rockers The Black Keys drop ‘El Camino’, their highly-anticipated new record, on December 6, but we thought we’d give you two tracks to whet your appetites. ‘Stop Stop’ is a powerhouse with the band’s trademark raucous guitars on show and some infectious vocals to boot, whereas ‘Little Black Submarines’ builds from quiet intensity to something far more kick-ass. ‘El Camino’ will cement The Black Keys’ reputation as one of the best garage-rock acts out there, and should be massive. Don’t miss it, and check out another ‘El Camino’ track here.

[News] Pretty Lights and BitTorrent

Pretty Lights Artist 2 [News] Pretty Lights and BitTorrent

Acclaimed electronic artist Pretty Lights has teamed up with digital media giant BitTorrent, to help show the world what Pretty Lights does best – share amazing music for free. Now for a lot of us in the US, Pretty Lights is a household name. But if you live abroad, and haven’t had a chance to go to a show or music festival, you might not have heard of him.

This is part of what excited Derek Vincent Smith (aka Pretty Lights) in talking to BitTorrent. His appreciation for sharing music was a natural fit for the Bit Torrent’s blazing fast downloads and large worldwide network of users. When asked about this new found relationship, this is what he had to say, "I began offering my music as a free download with the release of my first album because I’ve always supported the sharing of digital media, including my own creations. I’ve experienced the benefits firsthand of letting anyone and everyone download my music at no charge, which is, primarily, a momentous growth in the attendance of my live shows.”

So as of this morning, there will be a neatly wrapped holiday torrent for you. The contents? Three EPs from last year, as well as a single and a video from 2011.

- Glowing In The Darkest Night (EP – 8 eight tracks)
- Making Up A Changing Mind (EP – six tracks)
- Spilling Over Every Side (EP – six tracks)
- Pretty Lights Live @Bonnaroo (video)
- Single – I Know The Truth

While this didn’t come with a brand new track, you still have to be excited about what this means. It’s yet another artist who is dedicated to letting people enjoy their music for free. Artists who take this mindset only make fans want to see them more. And in the case of Pretty Lights, it seems to have worked out pretty well. I was lucky enough to see him at a sold out show at Red Rocks, and believe me, I’ve seen very few acts that have as dedicated of a fan base, and put on as amazing of a live performance.

Below you have the single released in this package, as well as one of our top picks from each of the three EPs included as well. Enjoy the meticulously laid out hip hop beats, classic samples, and gritty synths the Pretty Lights has to offer.

Kaskade – Eyes ft. Mindy Gledhill (Alvin Risk Remix) [Dubstep]

kaskade eyes remixes 550x550 Kaskade Eyes ft. Mindy Gledhill (Alvin Risk Remix) [Dubstep]

OK it is true, we have been posting a lot of Dubstep lately but over the last couple of days we have seen amazing releases we just cannot keep to ourselves. Brand new remix from Alvin Risk remixing “Eyes” from Kaskade, featuring the lovely vocals of Mindy Gledhill. A complete departure from the original track, this powerful dubstep is a complete work of filth. Very aggressive, a bit Skrillex-like yet still leaving room to breath incorporating the long synths and vocal samples that we originally fell in love with on the original.
